Managing the School Estate Summit 2021

in partnership with Department for Education

In England and Wales the schools estate spans more than 22,000 individual schools made up of a huge number of buildings of a bewildering range of sizes, ages, designs and conditions. With such a vast estate it is critical to ensure that the fundamentals of good estate management are adopted and practiced by each school in order to ensure the very best learning environment for pupils and working conditions for staff.

The ‘Managing the School Estate Summit’ is being organised by Public Sector Connect. The conference is supported by the Department for Education’s Capital Directorate. The focus will be on the school estate and the importance of strategic estate management. We will explain why and how effectively managing the school estate will help schools to make the most of their resources.

There will be around 400+ delegates from across all parts of the public sector attending this online event. Throughout the summit, we will discuss the skills, tools and guidance needed to ensure proper maintenance of schools over the next few years. We will discuss the challenges that responsible bodies will need to overcome, procurement procedures and ways to save money. Other key areas of learning for delegates will include governance, performance management, data management, health and safety and much more. It will also give delegates the opportunity to network with their peers and engage with some of our stakeholder organisations.

The conference will be interactive and will allow for discussion and debate about how we build, manage and maintain the school estate and the skills and tools that are needed to get the job done.

High-profile, expert speakers from both public and private sectors will deliver inspirational and informative presentations in the morning plenary, after which the day will continue with a range of focussed learning opportunities based on best practice case studies in a series of breakout sessions.
